Information

Knowmats is an informal repository of information related to materials and simulation. Using a combination of contributor posts, links and preprints, the goal is to assemble a curated collection of information that helps simulation professionals perform best-in-class simulation with a better understanding of how materials are represented in FEA and simulation. Contributors include simulation professionals, CAE and finite element software companies, material modeling experts and others who are willing to contribute their expertise to improve the field. Knowmats staff will work with contributors to collect their information, create and tag posts.

Our testing routinely tackles such materials characterization challenges as non-linear and post-yield behavior, dynamic situations, such as drop, crash and impact, hyperelasticity, as with rubber and foams, and time-based behavior, such as creep, stress relaxation and viscoelasticity.  To support CAE work, we offer 179 unique TestPaks, developed in collaboration with CAE software partners, which incorporate all characterization measurements, parametric conversions, model fitting and file formatting for CAE simulation. TestPaks provide CAE-ready material files for most common material models across 36 CAE software packages, covering injection molding, extrusion, thermo-forming, blow molding, structural analysis and impact simulation. Our Universal TestPaks provide  material files for multiple CAE solvers from a single set of material tests, for injection molding and other applications. With TestPaks, the CAE engineer has timely, precise and relevant data for seamless CAE simulation input. Most tests and TestPaks are digitally delivered with a standard 5-day turnaround time. To facilitate the use of material data, DatapointLabs’ affiliate Matereality offers a robust and scalable platform to securely manage enterprise materials information, build materials libraries and support collaboration.
